Weekend-based permaculture design certification course in Holyoke, MA. Be part of a global movement to regenerate our communities and create the world we want to live in.
This 72 hour, weekend based permaculture design course, an offering of Food Forest Farm in collaboration with Mobile Design Lab, moves from principles and patterns to details in a supportive, respectful and collaborative atmosphere promotes rapid learning of the many facets of whole systems design. The course centers around experiential learning and hands-on skill building, including local field trips where we see theory in action.
The course concludes with a design practicum, where participants work in small groups to develop a design for the course client. The evening of the last class includes a celebration and open studio where students can engage with their friends, family and the public about their work and design.
Upon successful completion of the course participants receive professional certification in permaculture design.

What you get:
Payment plans can be arranged. Course fee includes full course materials and certification, coffee, tea, handouts, gigabytes of course reference materials (digital format), access to an extensive physical permaculture library, field trips, guest instructors. One Sunday lunch each weekend included.
9-9:30- Meditation, Daily Preview, Announcements
9:30-10:45- Water in the Landscape- water cycle and functions, techniques for water conservation & harvesting
11-12:30- Keyline design, contour, swales, pond building
12:30-1:30- Lunch Break
1:30-3-Hands on- how to find contour lines in a landscape, building an A-frame, using a water level to dig and plant an edible swale
3:15- 4:45-Aquaculture systems- passive and recirculating, chinampas, bioshelters
4:45-5- Wrap up, closing
The course was an awesome opportunity to get practical about living sustainably as a part of community and as a part of the natural world.
